The big rally in Olympia looks pretty pitiful to me. Here's a link I found to some pictures from one of the attendees. It looks like a Tea Bagger rally without the misspelled signs.

4. I can come up with a few reasons why the event wasn't well attended

The first is that the Second Amendment isn't under a whole lot of threat in Washington state, not least because the state constitution is far more explicit about gun ownership ("The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired <...>") than the federal constitution is.

The second is that Washington isn't very polarized politically, and any movement that rejects dialogue and cooperation in the way the Teabaggers do isn't likely to catch on very much. And I suspect this event got (rightly) tarred by association.

Third, how much publicity did they give to this? I wasn't even aware it had happened until now, and it's not as if my shadow hasn't darkened the doorways of a few gun shops in the past month or two.
