Dog Shot, Man Killed In Atlanta

A man has died after he was shot in his home in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police said the shooter was a guest in the victim's home, and the two had an argument and at least two shots were fired around 1 a.m. Friday.

Police said the victim was hit in the leg and bled to death. A dog at the home was hit in the ear.

Police said the victim's godfather called 911 about the shooting.

There's absolutely no reason to assume this was case of the shooter losing his temper and if only he hadn't had a firearm, nobody would have been killed. It could quite readily have been a case of a drug buy gone bad (e.g. the shooter was posing as a buyer, but was actually a robber).

I have to question how the circumstances could even be known; if the vic died of blood loss from a GSW to the leg, it may have been some time before he was found. Yes, a hit to the femoral artery can cause exsanguination in as little as five minutes, but bleeding from damage to other major blood vessels or a fractured femur would probably take something in the order of on or two hours.
