Mom, boyfriend charged for 3-year-old's shooting
A Springfield mother and her boyfriend were charged Friday in connection with a Wednesday evening shooting that injured the woman’s 3-year-old son.

Tyrone J. Harrington, 26, is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and reckless conduct, both Class 4 felonies punishable by up to 1 to 3 years in prison. He also is charged with having no valid Firearm Owners Identification Card, a Class A misdemeanor.

Ebony M. Jones, 22, is charged with endangering the life or life of a child, also a Class A misdemeanor.

Springfield police learned of the shooting about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday when the couple, both of the 1400 block of East Brown Street, brought the injured boy to St. John’s Hospital. Harrington and Jones were arrested Thursday.

Police: Rochester Hills dad accidentally ran over, killed 6-year-old daughter in driveway
By The Associated Press
February 23, 2010, 9:59AM

Authorities say a Rochester Hills father accidentally ran over his 6-year-old daughter while parking his car in the garage, killing her.

Police say the 44-year-old father was maneuvering his vehicle in his driveway and preparing to back it into the garage about 5 p.m. EST Monday, when the accident happened.

The Oakland Press and The Detroit News say the man exited his vehicle and found the girl lying unconscious on the driveway.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 7:45 p.m.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

An investigation continues.

Any other inanimate objects you'd like to blame?

5. Is it just me, or...
... is it in fact entirely fucked up that "reckless conduct" is a felony, whereas "endangering the life of a child" is a misdemeanor?
