HA HA!!! It's that time of year again!!! Brady Score Cards are out!!
Where an "F" usually means you have a low crime rate, and a "A" means you usually have a high crime rate!!

1. based on crime? how? Look at NH and vermont.
Lowest violent (and gun) crime rate in the nation and low scores.

4. It's a correlation/causation thing, with a healthy side of sarcasm.
States with very low crime rates just HAPPEN to have 'very bad gun laws' according to the brady bunch.

2. More proof that the Brady Campaign is nothing but a hate group
Their "grades" have no correlation with public safety whatsoever.

My state, California, got their highest score this year because we have more useless, pointless restrictions than any other state.

Only got a 6 out of 10. The President of the Brady Campaign is the former mayor of Fort Wayne.

while states with high crime rates got higher scores. Explain how that is bad. It seems this is like golf, lowest score is best.

38. In theory ... it is supposed to show which states are "safer"
Edited on Fri Feb-19-10 09:57 AM by DonP
Their claim is that more gun control results in lower gun crime rates and therefore safer places to live.

They dropped that sham a few years back when the results showed exactly the opposite. States with fewer restrictions, e.g. concealed carry laws, no one gun a month rationing etc. had lower crime rates. In short and generally speaking, more gun control = more crime and violence.

States that have more restriction have the higher crime rates. That's why the Brady scorecards have become a major punch line that even the corporate media won't carry anymore.

It serves their corporate masters to have the serfs unarmed.

And they dupe naive liberals into following them.

who have very liberal gun laws have low crime rates? Because he is after political victories and bans and is not interested in lowering crime rates.

6. You know what gets me? Bloomberg continually blames other states for NYC's crime & gun problems...
And looking at the Brady Scorecard Map, the states that surround NYC are ranked in the the highest top 10.
The nearest state with a "poorer" Brady score is a trip trough Massachusetts into Vermont - over 200 miles away.

LOL, gun-control-rhetoric-fail.
Like NYC's problem with guns is caused by criminals driving 6 hour round trips. :eyes:

DC is in a similar boat... always blaming NJ (#2) and VA (#17) for thier gun problem.
Right, because states surrounding you, all in at least the top 17 of the Brady list, cause all of your gun woes. :eyes:

9. Here's a gem statement about Alaska:
Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 06:12 PM by OneTenthofOnePercent
"According to government figures, Alaska also has the country's highest percentage of crime guns recovered that were originally purchased within the state. The Brady Campaign relates this “homegrown” gun violence not just to geography, but also because of the lack of gun laws in the state and nationally."

I'm pretty sure THE PERCENTAGE of crime guns recovered in Alaska that originally came from Alaska has nearly EVERYTHING to with the fact that it's not even part of the CONUS. Like people are expected to funnel guns through the canadian tundra to criminals waiting in Alaska.
Funny, they fail to mention the same stats about Hawaii (a gun-control wet dream) as well. :eyes:
I wonder the percentage of crime guns found in the CONUS come from AK or HI.
Holy Cripes, these Brady folks are some ignorant anuses.

15. how will it help you?
NH and vermont, the two states with the lowest crime rates got horrible scores and that california and the states with the highest crime rates got the best scores and the scores being based upon high score going to high gun control, how will that help out an anti gun argument? That only argues against gun control.

22. I love the fixation on reduntant laws
The Brady Campaign actually gives negative points to states for not having laws that require or prohibit things that are already required or prohibited under federal law. As if it makes a difference that state X doesn't require a background check in addition to the federally mandated NICS check!

Maybe at some point I'll make a chart comparing Brady ranking, homicide rate, poverty rate, and population density. See if anything comes up.

If nothing else it would be fodder for my poli-sci course.

39. Hell, they don't even know what they are grading on.
Apparently, according to their system, you don't have to be 21 to purchase a handgun in PA. You do.

Some of their categories don't make any sense. For example, what the heck is an "assault pistol?"

They think that magazines above 10 rounds are large?
