Interesting new gun control law proposed in WV
making a felon out of anyone who "persuades, encourages or entices" a gun dealer to make an illegal sale.

Very nice, if you lie on form 4473 about "WHO" you are buying the gun for, and beg a FFL to sell you a gun, you get a felony charge!

I like this law!! Not to mention it's very beneficial side effects. Of helping to keep nosy Republicans out of the state..

1. Meh
Not a fan of gun control...

Only thing I'm a fan of is showing proof you're a US Citizen before you make your purchase.

This is one of those 'issues' that's always made into a bigger issue than it really is. We have the media to thank for that one...

2. You must show multiple forms of ID..
One must be a government issued photo ID, or Drivers License..

Also, you must fill out the form 4473, in which you must attest to your citizenship status.

I don't THINK, a green card will allow firearm purchase. I could be mistaken on that.

3. In most states, a resident alien card is enough..
.. though it's been a while since I looked at that aspect of state legislation. I know the 4473 has a spot for resident alien #.

5. I would think it already is
Either under a fraud charge or a conspiracy charge, one would be guilty of a crime for either presenting false information, or bribing someone to commit a crime.

I presume the same is true for the dealer who "coaches" or otherwise enables people to buy guns under fraudulent terms.

6. I don't get it.
"If there are violations, they should be investigated by clearly recognized law enforcement in our state, rather than by bringing in hired goons to do it."

I don't understand the outrage. If people are highlighting bad business practices in violation of the legal way to sell firearms, the proper response should be, "Thank you for pointing out the illegal selling activity."

Instead, they are saying "We are going to make you a felon for pointing out the illegal selling activity".

Violations are violations, regardless of who points them out. I don't agree with this law.

The correct response should be to fix the violations, not penalize the people who point them out.

8. Hope the Brady Bunch doesn't hear about it.
"But....but I'm Josh Sugarmann, I'm doing the public's will, you can't cuff me!!?!"
