BTW, finally finished the article. Fine piece of writing. Journalists normally are not very good at presenting this perspective in an objective manner.

He is quite an activist, and had to be to obtain a concealed-carry permit in Baltimore! He lives in a rough neighborhood where drugs deals and prostitution are aggressively in the open, as well as display of firearms and direct threats to kill Sassi for his work on exposing "Johns" who frequent the area. (As I recall, there is some kind of web site wherein "Johns" exchange info on prostitutes; their availability, price, qualities, etc. They don't care for Sassi, and neither do the pimps who have threatened him.)
