Newark airport guard that threatened Obama has 43 firearms.
Brek allowed police to search his Linden home and officers found 43 firearms, Kelly said. The firearms were still being processed, but no illegal guns had been found.

8. I only have two hands
The largest number of firearms a person can use effectively at any given moment is no more than one.

27. Firearms = tools. You need the right tool for the right job at hand.
A small powerful handgun for concealed carry (provide you can do this legally)
A larger handgun for open carry while hunting (I keep rat shot in mine for the potential snake problem)
Pistol for plinking (.22)
Rifle for long range hunting
Rifle for general utility use ie varmints
Rifle for plinking (.22)
Shotgun for defensive use
shotgun for quail
shotgun for dove
shotgun for duck

And the other various firearms for the various competitions such as IPSC, IDPA, etc.

7. So?
I know people who own that many. They're normal.

What is the limit before it becomes abnormal? Does that apply only to guns? I'm a comic book collector, I have over 22 longboxes worth of comics, is that amount abnormal?

12. I can remember as a kid back in the 60's...
comic books were considered manuscripts of the devil and were responsible for the decay of society and juvenile delinquency.

21. LOL. Bats does have a problem with guns.
But like most gun-grabbers, that problem vanishes when he needs them.

He used a gun to kill Darkseid. ;-)

11. Guy's truly an idiot if he actually "allowed police to search" his home.
Never never never talk to the police without immunity.
Certainly never consent to search without warrant.
Never give up your 4th or 5th amendment rights.
This guy is uber-screwed.

14. ALWAYS remember these phrases when dealing with police!!
"No officer, I do not consent to any search"

"Am I being detained or am I free to go?"

15. So what?
So the guy is a firearm enthusiast? I own about 15 firearms, and I would own many more if I could afford them. I enjoy target shooting and each firearm is fun to shoot in a different way, much like driving different cars is enjoyable in different ways.

22. Worse - the fool had prohibited "hollowpoint" bullets
Brek is charged with third-degree making terroristic threats, third degree receiving stolen property and fourth-degree possession of prohibited devices, the hollow point bullets.

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/10/newark_airport_security_worker_1.html

This guy if what he said is true is a bit looney tunes IMHO, but I will say that NJ law is STUPID in their idiotic prohibition of hollowpoint bullets.

28.  "prohibited "hollowpoint" bullets"
They are prohibited for carry, and for defensive use. But possession is NOT against the law.

23. The number doesn't really matter
one in the hands of a serious person would be enough, and he could obtain that through the blackmarket just as easily as through a gun store.

24. Does anyone know what he said?
Edited on Thu Oct-22-09 02:11 PM by Hoopla Phil
I think it would be nice to know what he actually said before going off half cocked (pun intended)on this issue.

If he said he wanted to take a shot at the president and was working on a plan to do it, it would be pretty cut and dry. If however he is a birther that said something to the affect that he is perpetrating a fraud on the country and needs to be tried for treason, then it's not so cut and dry.

As far as the number of legal firearms he owns, that would be irrelevant.

25. he had cut through an airport fence in order to shoot Obama
Edited on Thu Oct-22-09 04:18 PM by RamboLiberal

He said this - nothing in story to say they found any fence cut.

Also in GD story I posted he said he would cut up Obama and feed him to the animals. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x6833598

29. Mind you, NJ state law classes airsoft and BB guns as "firearms"
I kid you not! From the NJ Code of Criminal Justice:
2C:39-1. Definitions.
<...>
f. "Firearm" means any handgun, rifle, shotgun, machine gun, automatic or semi-automatic rifle, or any gun, device or instrument in the nature of a weapon from which may be fired or ejected any solid projectable ball, slug, pellet, missile or bullet, or any gas, vapor or other noxious thing, by means of a cartridge or shell or by the action of an explosive or the igniting of flammable or explosive substances. It shall also include, without limitation, any firearm which is in the nature of an air gun, spring gun or pistol or other weapon of a similar nature in which the propelling force is a spring, elastic band, carbon dioxide, compressed or other gas or vapor, air or compressed air, or is ignited by compressed air, and ejecting a bullet or missile smaller than three-eighths of an inch in diameter, with sufficient force to injure a person.

"Elastic band"!

Anyway, point being that when a New Jersey law enforcement agency says they recovered a large number of firearms, they may not mean just firearms, but also air guns etc.
