Drunk Driver Breaks Up Street Brawl
I think this one may well hit almost every analogy I've seen here in the last six months. You can't make this stuff up.

http://www.stargazette.com/article/20091017/NEWS01/910170358/Man-stabbed-in-Southside-melee
Fighters were armed with sticks, a motorized weed trimmer, a garden hoe and a knife. An unidentified 16-year-old girl from Elmira drove a vehicle onto the sidewalk, through the fighters, and through a stockade fence, Wandell said.

...

The teen girl was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, a class A misdemeanor, driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and driving on a sidewalk. She was arraigned in Elmira City Court on Saturday and remanded to Chemung County Jail on $600 bail, pending further proceedings.

At least nobody got shot.

3. Heh
I wasn't sure if it belonged here. Or anywhere else for that matter. It just seemed to have every gungeon element except the gun.

Maybe next I'll post a cryptic poll...

6. By a
(possibly) underage gang affiliated intoxicated female that drove a registered vehicle onto private property. The important issue here is was it her private property or someone else's private property, and was the vehicle secured from use as a weapon by a minor by an adequately responsible adult? If not, should the adult be prosecuted?

Brain hurt...

14. Race cars
are only operated on private property by licenced professionals. Since all the race cars are going in the same direction they do not qualify as indiscriminate weapons. Although they are crew served...

16. Also, most race cars are not automatic, and require one pull or push per shift.

17. Steering wheel mounted
paddle shifters are just as fast as an automatic. Even so, it would be a simple matter to crush a group of innocent children in a melee if you set up a kill zone in a confined space like an alley and just drove in low gear. Really no need to shift at all especially if you are driving a .50 caliber dump truck that can crush a 800 ton Boeing 747 like a tin can.

And don't tell me that somebody in the crowd should have a dump truck too, the innocent bystanders would just get crushed between them.

20. Picky distinctions! Splitting hairs! Semantics!
I'm tired of 9-year-olds running down 7-year-olds with NASCAR stockers!! We need to get these deadly race cars off the streets!

(Whaddya mean they're not street-legal under current law? You're obviously a shill for the AAA and the car companies. They probably paid you to say that.)

than you do. (See post #21). I haven't been a member for years. When they expanded into the credit card business I felt that I just couldn't support merging automobile and financial data. That's just the first step toward the confiscation of my frequent flier miles.

I think you're confusing your cars here.

This:

is simply not the same as this:

Yeah, they're both red, but while the top stripped down model looks scary and unsafe, it won't go nearly as fast.

23. You car nuts are always making a big deal out of silly technical distinctions.
Both of the above cars are red, and they both have pedals!!! Ban them for the children!!!

You just don't care about car deaths; otherwise you'd support banning internal combustion vehicles.

7. We need to look into closing the Gardenshow loopholes.
Sticks, weed eaters, hoes, knives, and drunk driving certainly emboldened this crime
I suggest regisration and 3 day waiting periods on ALL of these items.
Background checks, fingerprints, and minimum age of 18 years should also be considered.

8. There is no garden show loophole.
Those items could be privately transferred between law abiding citizens anywhere there is a lawn that needs trimming. Law abiding citizens may need hoes to grow gardens when the shit hits the fan and society collapses. Citizens armed with garden implements could successfully defend themselves against drunken teenage girls in automobiles given the number of such tools in our culture today.

a known quantity where the EPA can monitor them. If it weren't for garden shows there'd be a rogue gardener hiding behind every bush.

9. You know who's to blame for this?
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 11:00 AM by JonQ
The car companies and car lobbyists who spend literally billions of dollars convincing us that this behavior is acceptable. If they wouldn't push this sick "car culture" down our throats this girl would never have felt the need to do this. That and gas companies, and road crews, they all make this sort of atrocity possible.

Of course the girl isn't entirely blameless, she most likely needs counseling both to undo the negative effects the car was able to have on her psyche and to convince her that she doesn't need to compensate for her lack of male genitalia by buying these sorts of penis-substitutes.

10. Cars are inherently dangerous.
They are specifically designed to GO and they infect those driving them with an uncontrollable urge to just hit the gas without any regard for innocent children in a melee fighting with garden tools. Ensconced in a steel and glass bubble with seat belts and air bags they give the driver a false sense of security and unlimited power. Many cars even have cup holders designed to hold alcoholic beverages! Oh, they say they're for coffee but I know better. Any cup holder can easily be converted to hold a beer can. You can even get a high capacity silly straw at a garden show without a permit.

21. Hold on there.
I did some research and they're not what they seem!

http://www.google.com/finance?q=American+Automobile+Association
This isn't your great-grandfather's American Automobile Association (AAA). The not-for-profit organization is best known for providing emergency roadside assistance to its members. AAA has extending its reach into other areas, however, such as offering a variety of financial and travel-arrangement services (foreign currency exchange and travelers checks), as well. The organization offers its members credit cards, insurance, and vehicle financing. AAA operates travel agencies and publishes maps and travel guides, to boot. AAA and its affiliated 70-odd auto clubs maintain about 1,100 facilities to serve more than 50 million members that span the US and Canada. AAA was founded in 1902.

And here's an interesting coincidence.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1911_pistol
Moros had very high battle morale and frequently used drugs to inhibit the sensation of pain.<3> The U.S. Army briefly reverted to using the M1873 single-action revolver in .45 Colt caliber, which had been standard during the last decades of the 19th century; the heavier bullet was found to be more effective against charging tribesmen.<4> The problems with the .38 Long Colt led to the Army shipping new single action .45 Colt revolvers to the Philippines in 1902. It also prompted the then-Chief of Ordnance, General William Crozier, to authorize further testing for a new service pistol.<4>

Strange that AAA was founded the same time testing was begun for the venerable Colt 1911.

Yeah right. Extending their reach indeed. They seem begnign but you know what happens Canadians get involved. That's right, they get maps and travel guides into fifty million cars and first thing you know all those cars wind up in - wait for it - Mexico!
