4. Oh great another agenda pusher that...........
doesn't give rats ass about the actual people being killed. Just as long as they can use it to ban guns they're happy. This shit makes me sick to know that people can actually think this way.

6. It's Not As If Pro-Gunners Don't Use the Same Tactic, Birdcage
How often after each school shooting do we hear pro-gunners proclaiming that "if one teacher would have been allowed to carry a gun, this could have been stopped"????

Each side uses current events to advance their agenda. Neither side can claim the high road.

8. You'll never see...
...pro-gunners hoping for another tragedy. Or hoping a tragedy uses a specific weapon that they dislike so they can use it as an excuse.

21. I like green.
See, I can say things that have nothing to do with the orginal statement to.

"If each citizen can kill one troop citizens win. ""

Is not as a general statement, that is in the event that US tropps are being used to oppress US citizens. Thats not hoping for a tragedy, that's a hypothetical situation.

So many people are alive today simply because it is not legal to shoot them

Is a quote from a TShirt and has nothing to do with hoping for a tragedy. It has nothing to do with tragedy of any stripe, and is just another way of saying "Some people are so stupid, it's a wonder they're not dead"

"the human toll" riiiiggghhht. no shots were fired. robbery has existed well before AR15's were invented. Villifying the tools used in robberys does nothing to solve the real problem."

How is that hoping for a tragedy? See, once again, nothing to do with anything.

Poor kid can't get anything right."

Is called a joke. Not a suggestion that he try again or a hope that he will.

24. I didnt say it was in good taste.
But it's not encouraging him to try again either. To imply that it is is is either an attempt to intentionally mislead, or just missing the point completely.

Personally, I think it's the former, but you tell me ;)

Hey, I wasnt in that facist take over thread, so I guess that makes me an exception to your rule.

Besides, fellow americans? While I think the scenario of a police state take over is extremely unlikely. In the very unlikely event that it did happen I would hardly consider the enforcers of an opressive governments rule to be my "fellow americans". At that point, my country wouldnt be my country anymore.

Now I repeat, I dont think such a thing will ever come to bear, at least not in my lifetime, and I hope it doesnt. I dont own, nor purport to own a gun for that reason. I own a gun for the same reason I own a car that will go 150 miles an hour. I want to.

23. It's All In How You Read Them
From wwhere I'm sitting, they're all irresponsible statements. Like when G. Gordon Liddy told his listeneres to be sure to "aim for the head" if a government agent approached their door.

25. Irresponsible...maybe.
But still dont qualify was "hoping" they bear fruit.

And thats what I am talking about the "hope" that something happens, and even stating as much quite bluntly.

Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 10:59 AM by Romulus
was being released.

Seeing as how the shooter managed to shoot through car doors, car windows, and now school buildings, I am betting that its something like .270 or up.

He/she also seems to be a one-shot-wonder, meaning that they are probably using a Remi/Winch/Savage "sniper rifle."

11. I Believe That Is Quite Commonplace, Romulus
Keep vital information about a string of crimes out of the public arena, to cut down on copycats.

I'm no expert on guns, but it definitely sounds like something rather powerful is being used.

Whoever is using that gun is not using it responsibly. Therefore, he or she is no longer a "law abiding gun owner", and as such, I would think you pro-gunners would want him or her stopped before you're all portrayed in a negative light.

Of course anybody that has a descent soul wants this guy stopped but let's face the facts..........once he pulled the trigger the pro-gunners are already portrayed in a negative light. No matter how many people he kills.

The dispute comes on the follow-up. Do we take steps to try and prevent other snipers in the future, or do we do nothing and hope for the best?

29. If this is another "one shot wonder"...
...as someone said, then this crime could be commited by using a muzzle loader. I highly doubt any "reasonable" measures would prevent crimes like this where one shot is all thats being taken.

30. The best action that one can take.........
is to educate kids when they are young about firearms. Banning anything that you think has no sporting purpose is the ignorant method of trying to prevent a accident, murder or suicide. Of course this would mean introducing kids to firearms/safety at a very young age. I don't see how this would be a bad thing but there are some sick and twisted individuals that want nothing to do with guns even being discussed in school. Even if it is an attempt to prevent accidents and other foul play from happening. Let's just let em grow up and hope they fall for the "guns are evil and should be banned" bullshit.

> The dispute comes on the follow-up. Do we take steps to try and prevent other snipers in the future, or do we do nothing and hope for the best?

Well, what steps can one possible take? People that do this sort of thing are bad people who care nothing about the law. If there is something that can be done to keep dangerous things (why limit it to guns?) out of the hands of violent criminals, then I am all ears.

I couldn't see them even TRYING to ban bolt action rifles. Could you imagine the outcry? Many of the supporters for the 94 AWB were avid hunters (who use bolt action rifles).

15. interesting...
If this sicko is indeed using a bolt-action rifle, what will the anti-gunners say? I mean, if it's not an assault rifle that is being used...

How long have the highway shootings in Ohio been going on now?

13. As I said in my previous post...
...

One that was deleted. At least two people on a pro-gun board I go to have said they think from pictures of bullet holes that it looked like a .30 caliber.

Now, that being said....Mod's, why was my post deleted? There were no personal attacks or the like. Near as I can guess, it was deleted because one could infer what the person I was responding to had said. Which was mind bogglingly....well...daft.

Isnt it SOP for a copy of the post to be mailed to the person with a small explanation?

17. You are correct as to why your post was deleted
Regardless of the content of the previous post, a personal attack remains a personal attack.

Mods are not obligated to provide a PM explanation for deletions. We have the option of doing so. I chose not to in this case since there was much activity in this thread. It is my hope that we can now move past that intrusion and get back on topic.

In the future, if you have a question of the mods please either PM one of us or post your question in ATA.

And now, back to regularly scheduled discussion...
