The lack of accurate physics is usually quite entertaining.

5. shoot-em-ups
My personal fav is when a person gets shot with what is obviously a 12 gauge shotgun from 8 or 10 feet away. The shot person grabs his gut and lays on the ground in pain. What bs, from that distance a 12 gauge would pick the average person up and blow them backwards off of their feet. The hole in their gut would be basketball size and there would be little left to grab.

That is BS alright. Shotgun recoil won't blow you backwards off your feet; neither will the projectile/s.

he should be forced to watch a reruns of "Mythbusters", a real high school physics book may be too tough. (What do you mean Isaac Newton wasn't Fig's cousin?)

http://mythbustersresults.com/episode25 and http://mythbustersresults.com/episode38

Blowing up gas tanks with bullets??

http://mythbustersresults.com/episode15

They even busted the old time "cowboy hat shot off the head" trick from the old "oatburners" of the 40's and 50's too!

http://mythbustersresults.com/episode79

I personally am of the opinion that some dissatisfaction with 5.56mm stems from unrealistic expectations among troops that one hit will equal one kill, which is not a very defensable premise with any practical infantry rifle round. Somewhere between television/movies, where even ridiculously underpowered pistol rounds put down bad guys (but not the heroes) with the surety one would expect of a tank gun and rifle qualification ranges where one hit is depicted as doing the job, your typical 18 year old private absorbs the notion that if he can put 60 (or 120) or so grains of lead and copper into a target, it will drop. Until troops get themselves into combat (barring some educational outside experience like big game hunting), they carry this belief, and then suddenly and bitterly complain that their bullets don't do the job.

6. I do like action/shoot-em-up movies...
Sometimes it's fun to suspend disbelief and just enjoy watching big huge explosions, cars crashing, etc.... I prefer a good car chase more than gun play though.. like the scene with the Mini Coopers in The Italian Job... good times indeed.

Yup, I enjoy shoot-em-ups and war movies, like "Starship Troopers", but I cannot stand movies like "American Psycho", or "Seven", which I think are just twistedly sick and disgusting.

I don't know why.

19. Hate 'em...
Violence is far too prevalent in our society and our films are a part of that.

You're free to enjoy whatever kinds of art you wish to. Personally, I do not care for shoot 'em ups.

20. Almost all shoot-em-up movies are Superman takeoffs...
they take place in a parallel universe where the laws of physics are different and commonsense doesn't exist. These movies glorify violence just to glorify violence.

I prefer movies with a plot and characters who don't possess superhuman abilities. I'm not opposed to violence in these movies, as long as it is presented realistically and is not gratuitous and is essential to the plot.

I get upset when the hero fails to practice safe gun handling or when the characters use weapons that never require reloading.

I also tire quickly of extended auto chases with cars flying between buildings etc.

Personally, I would enjoy watching more sex in movies. Sex is a far more normal part of life than violence.

By the way, I'm a strong advocate of gun ownership for self defense by honest citizens. I believe in the right of a trained licensed citizen to carry a concealed weapon. I have a concealed permit and I carry.

23. I really the enjoyed the Lord of the Ring book series..
but I haven't watched the movies. I'll have to rent them and give them a shot.

I do like sci-fi movies, especially the first Alien and surprisingly the Terminator series. Somehow, the fact that they are not realistic doesn't bother me. I found No Country for Old Men a more recent enjoyable film.

22. Really depends on the movie
For example, I thought Heat was an excellent film, whereas Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever was utter garbage that no amount of rarely seen hardware could save.

25. That was fun, yeah
In an over-the-top massively silly sort of way. Kill Bill (to name the most commonly known example) had a fair amount of that as well, with the fountains of blood and such. It's not the sort of thing I want to watch frequently, any more than I enjoy watching zombie flicks too often, but two or three times a year, when I'm in the mood for something ludicrously gory, sure. Machine Girl there doesn't look like it takes itself to seriously, and that's a large part of what makes it watchable.

Loved the Matrix trilogy, and the way it played with your mind about the nature of reality. Hated the senseless violence of Kill Bill. Loved Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (hey, arrows count, right?) and more recently, The Kingdom (which got the gun handling by the good guys surprisingly right, and any pic with Jennifer Garner in it, I like to watch). I despise all westerns except Quigley Down Under, which was a good story with believable shooting (and which made me want a Shiloh Sharps).

Enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. Smith because it was so damn witty, and the gun handling was competent. Enjoyed Resident Evil because it was wonderfully scary, and because of Milla Jovovich, though the laser-grid scene was unnecessarily gross; RE2 was pretty good, RE3 OK but the "fast zombies" were less believable.

I don't like movies in which the hero is a bloodthirsty jerk without a conscience, movies in which the director is obviously absofricken clueless about guns, and movies that glorify violence and gore for its own sake.

And a note to Hollywood: Guns do not, in fact, make clicking sounds every time you raise them to eye level, you cannot thumb-cock a Glock, pistols with the slides locked back do not make shooty noises or flames, once a shotgun is pumped it STAYS pumped, a Hollywood "standoff" usually isn't, and shooting from the hip is for B-movies, OK?

28. I enjoy all genres.
If it's well made, it's well made.

Also there is the genre of "bad-good" where a movie is so bad it's good!

29. Some are OK, man are so ridiculous the are not watchable for me.
I am always surprised when a writer of a novel or whoever it would be in a movie makes a drastic error regarding guns. The correct information is so easily attainable, and usually so simple, that anyone investing a few minutes online could find it, but don't bother. They seem to either go with what they think is "common knowledge" or with anti gun prejudicial lies spread by the gun control propagandists. Of course, the lack of correct information on something so simple and basic leads me to doube everything they are writing or showing me, and I can't continue to read or watch.
Example: a novel by Faye Kellerman, in which a main premise was that a
"double action automatic" pistol fired 2 shots for every time the trigger was pulled. This is, of course, incorrect and ridiculous and something that could have been very easily understood with a few minutes search on Google. The writer didn't care to make that investment, and I no longer read any of her work.

Most "shot em ups" are pure crap, especially those made for TV.

My wife, however, does really like to watch things explode.
