America's Shooting Gallery March 29, 2008
GA: 2 dead, 2 hurt in hospital shooting. A retired teacher, Charles Johnston, 63, bearing a grudge over his mother's medical treatment at the hospital where she died, fatally shot one of her nurses and another employee then wounded a man outside before police shot him in the shoulder.
NC: In a suicide pact gone awry, three Monroe women were to report to the city's Police Department to talk about forged drug prescriptions. But police believe the women couldn't bring themselves to commit suicide and agreed to shoot each other instead. One woman, Deborah McCord Gibson, 45, died, while her daughter, Jennifer Ashleigh McCord, 23, was wounded along with a family friend, Linda Maples, 27.
TX: An 11-year-old son discover the bodies of his dead parents from a murder-suicide; the couple was seeking a divorce when Sharon Rachel Robbins, 37, was shot and killed by her husband, Richard Eugene Robbins, 39.
TX: At Texas College a shooting injured two students: 19-year-old Roy Morgan was shot once in the stomach and listed in serious condition, and 20-year old Bobby Hughes suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand. Detectives said it could have been an accident, but they're also not ruling out foul play.
KY: A woman, who is also a student, walked into a health services building with a gun at the University of Louisville about 8:30 a.m. Thursday and used a gun to hold her female counselor hostage before being disarmed.
WI: A 13-year-old boy was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound that stemmed from a domestic situation.
NY: Grammy-nominated rapper, Remy Ma, was convicted of shooting an acquaintance over money outside a nightclub last summer and then trying to intimidate her.
VA: Gunfire struck several vehicles along an 11-mile stretch of Interstate 64 in central Virginia, near Charlottesville, injuring two people and prompting police to shut down part of the highway for nearly six hours.
IL: A 19-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot in the chest Thursday night in the parking lot of a West Dundee shopping mall.
PA: A judge set new and dramatically increased bail terms for a 17-year-old youth accused of seriously wounding a Housing Authority police officer, Craig Kelley, 49, with an assault rifle in Germantown last month.

1. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people injured or killed by these criminals.
I hope they charge that juvenile as an adult and punish the rest of the criminals to the fullest extent of the law.

2. There were only two instances in which "criminals" fired the weapon.
Nice try, though.

4. How do you know they weren't criminals?
How do you know they weren't convicted of crimes prior to these shootings?

15. The articles don't say that. So what does that make you?
Someone who is either extremely misled or lying. Let us know which one it is.

26. They don't know, thats part of the problem. Also many of these criminals were underage when they
committed a crime, but are allowed to buy guns, as adults.

This defect in the NICS background checks needs to be addressed as well,
when Obama wins in 2008, and we have the power to get gun control
legislation back on track, after 8 long years of * sponsored NRA gun-pushing.

5. I don't think we are reading the same thing.
Domestic Violence was a crime last time I checked. Shooting randomly at cars was a crime. Suicide and assisted suicide were crimes. Killing nurses was a crime. Shooting police officers was a crime. Unless I've missed some really big news over the last few hours I think most of these people are criminals. Justice for the victims is the only thing I'm trying to encourage.

6. OMG you keep getting more desperate.
I read all these articles. In all but two cases, the one with the rapper and the one person in the suicide plot who was being investigated for forging prescriptions, the other shooters HAD NO RECORDS. Of course they're criminals NOW. Alot of people who kill other people with guns are "law abiding citizens" until they shoot someone, Einstein.

10. That's simply not consistent with the available data.
In at least 2 of the others they haven't identified the shooters. So at this point I'll call you a liar. All I wanted to do was post condolences and you go and try to make a political point out of these tragedies, you should be ashamed.

11. I tried to make a political statement?
You're a real piece of work. Did you really think you weren't being transparent with that "prayers and condolences" post? I think the problem is, you consider other people to be stupid. Mistake. As far as being "ashamed", I'm not the one who glorifies the gun culture; you do. I don't know how you sleep at night.

13. I'm the only one who expressed any concern for the victims, including you.
Please show where I glorified the gun culture. I think the gun culture that hollywood has created is despicable. I sleep quite well when I'm not in a lot of pain. I appreciate your concern over my sleep habits thanks.

12. So the articles stated that the shooters had no criminal history?
That's funny because I read all the articles, and there are only 2 of them in which it is likely that the shooters were in legal possession of the firearm used and that would be complete speculation. Because not one of the articles states that the shooter was in legal possession of the firearm used in the shooting. I'll leave it to you to misrepresent the truth in order to make a political point, you have clearly learned a lot from the current administration.

17. You would say that grass is red if it meant winning the discussion.
Your excuses are so outrageous and childish I can see that it does no good to try to reason with you. It's like trying to reason with a twelve year-old. I'm putting you on ignore. Stop wasting my time. Bye bye.

"Catawba County sheriff’s deputies say two men dressed in black and carrying pistols forced their way into a home on 33rd Avenue in Hickory around 11:00 last night. According to a sheriff’s official, the homeowner was armed with his own gun, and shot the suspects. Both suspects were pronounced dead at the scene."

9. These cases don't negate the ten cases in the Shooting Gallery.
You might not want to face the truth, but one has nothing to do with the other.

they might still be alive or uninjured.

22. I thought you had me on ignore.
Here's what I know law abiding citizens are entitled to defend themselves against criminals. The most effective way to do that is be properly trained and carry a concealed weapon. They pose very little risk to the public and a lot of risk to the criminal, I know that's a good thing. Deep in my heart of hearts.

Guess that since they've had a ban for 30 years, there is no gun violence there.

19. A lot more people died from 2nd hand smoke on this same day.
Sorry, it's true. A lot more people died from lack of exercise, too. Car accidents-more. Reactions to prescription medicines as well. Just putting it in perspective...

20. Putting what into perspective, really?
Disease, earthquakes, floods and typhoons kill billions of people. That doesn't make a dent in the number of gun deaths in the US every day. I'll never understand why gun people think that pointing out the number of car accidents every day has anything to do with guns. It's a straw argument.

23. You don't care about the innocent lives saved by guns, so why you are so self righteous?
I guess it's okay if those people die, but not the gang bangers often mentioned in your posts. How sad of you to value the criminals more than the innocents, shame, shame.

24. I think they're all alchoholics
Approx 17,000 people a year lose their life in an alchohol-related vehicle accident. Maybe they're just running interference with gun-control to keep the politicos minds off of their booze?

;)
