1. Gunfire at Cleveland High School
"Officials said gunfire erupted Tuesday afternoon near a local high school.
NewsChannel5's Paul Kiska reported that an 18-year-old was shot twice around 3 p.m. at Wyoming and 13th streets, across from Kenmore High School. The shooting occurred right before school let out.
Police said two juvenile suspects are in custody and are being questioned. One of the juveniles is a student at Kenmore and one is not. Both apparently have been in constant trouble with the law. "

2. Gun Owner Shoots Three in Charlotte
"Police were searching Tuesday night for an unknown suspect wanted for shooting three men sitting in a car parked uptown.
Two of the victims shot at First Ward Place suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center. The third victim ran from the back of the bullet-ridden Subaru and made it to the hospital; police were not sure how he got there.
The shooting at the intersection of 7th and Davidson streets occurred a few feet from a playground -- which was empty at the time -- and within blocks of a day-care center and an elementary school.
The shooter fired a "high-caliber weapon," police said. Neighbors said they heard three shots and saw someone wearing black jump from a second-floor balcony shortly after the 3 p.m. shooting."

4. weekend of violence in gun control paradise
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 10:48 AM by Romulus
A weekend of violence takes 4 lives in Newark;
Shootings, stabbings also leave 8 wounded

http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/jersey/index.ssf?/base/news-4/1065503487250570.xml
Over a period of 32 hours last weekend, four people were killed, six were wounded by gunfire and at least two were injured in stabbings.

*snip*

"I think instead of progressing, we're regressing," Newark City Councilman Augusto Amador said. "We're trying to work to improve the quality of life here. But you can't bring back a city unless the people feel safe."

*snip*

Lt. Derek Glenn, a police spokesman, said the shootings were believed to be related to the drug trade at the housing complex, but he said there had been no arrests as of last night.

*snip*

"This is completely out of character for the neighborhood," said Essex County Counsel Francis Giantomasi. "The Ironbound is one of the safest communities in the state of New Jersey. I don't want to see these problems creeping into the neighborhood, and I'll commit myself and my resources ... to nip this in the bud."

Amador said it was ludicrous to think that something drastic hadn't occurred in Newark over the last 18 months to undo four years of progress fighting crime.

Couple found dead in University Park shooting

By PATRICK MALONE
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN

A husband and wife are dead after an apparent murder-suicide at their home in the University Park neighborhood.

Police suspect 39-year-old Donald Yowell shot and killed his wife, Shannon Yowell, 36, then started a fire in their home at 4610 Castor Drive before turning the gun on himself.

Donald Yowell died from a contact gunshot wound to the chest consistent with being self-inflicted, according to Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer.

Mrs. Yowell died from a gunshot wound to the chest at close range, Kramer said.

8. Murder-suicides almost always involve a firearm
And the country suffers around 1,500 or more a year...

13. Does a story like that...
...make you feel unsafe in your own home? Happy that your spouse doesn't own a gun? Happy that you don't own a gun? What?

But the case against one of the Bullseye Gun Shop's favorite customers goes on...

"Prosecutors at least temporarily withdrew their motion Tuesday to summon sniper suspect Lee Boyd Malvo to testify in the case against fellow suspect John Allen Muhammad.
Malvo, 18, and Muhammad, 42, are charged with 13 shootings, including 10 killings, during a three-week spree one year ago in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. "

11. Wow, dems...
Several thousand more such attacks and Britain will begin to suffer what we do in a typical year, thanks to the corrupt gun industry and the GOP.

Good thing they're not doing anything really stupid over there...such as handing out pistol permits to neurotics like candy to kids...or putting assault weapons on the street.

15. Guns, Pornography and Nazi Paraphernalia!!
It's the right wing loony's trifecta...and thuggish behavior by a priest to boot!

"Investigators found an unlicensed pistol, pornography and Nazi paraphernalia at the home of a priest they arrested on suspicion of making harassing telephone calls to a Catholic school, police said.
The Rev. John Johnston, of Queens, was awaiting arraignment Wednesday on charges of aggravated harassment and weapon possession, the New York Police Department said.
The 64-year-old priest was suspected of making a series of harassing calls to Bishop Laughlin High School, in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, police said.
An unlicensed .38-caliber pistol was recovered in his home, along with unspecified pornography and Nazi paraphernalia, police said."
