Vegas woman fatally shoots intruder who falls through ceiling

A woman was justified in shooting a man who fell through her ceiling while she was getting dressed after a shower, police said Wednesday.

The 31-year-old intruder was wanted for burglary and a parole violation, and was trying to elude plainclothes police at his door when he fell into his neighbor's apartment about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Las Vegas police homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.

"I think anyone would agree you'd feel your life was in danger when a burglar falls through your ceiling when you're just getting out of the shower," Monahan said, adding that police will submit a report to the Clark County district attorney.

The police lieutenant said the woman, whose name was withheld, is a single mother of three who bought the gun after her apartment was burglarized in April.

And the guy she shot was the one who burglarized her apartment.

She was getting out of the shower, a guy fell through her ceiling, and she had the presence of mind to grab a gun and shoot him. I wonder exactly where she kept her gun. And why she didn't just wound him, since presumably he was stunned or at least a little bit slowed down by falling through the ceiling.

And another thing, did she get dressed before or after she called 911?

He was surprised she had the presence to go for her gun after just getting out of the shower to find some strange man had fell through the roof.....yet..... he thought she should have the presence to take out a leg instead of aiming at the largest body part and shooting. :shrug:

I myself don't own guns. I'd be one of those untrained, dangerous idiots if I were to get one. And I'm still impressed that the woman got to her gun and killed the guy before he could get the hell out of there. Although, it is possible she keeps it stashed in the bathroom and so was extremely nearby, still....
