Smoking comes under fire around the world
Europe has overtaken theUS in zeal to ban smoking in all public places

In 1954, a landmark study by British scientist Richard Doll provided the first incontrovertible evidence that smoking causes lung cancer.

In the ensuing decades, governments began health campaigns against tobacco, requiring ever-tougher package warnings and enforcing restrictions on where and to whom it could be sold.

Half a century on from Doll's research comes another watershed year, this time with the right to smoke being called into question.

In my opinion, the American Tobacco companies were behind the smear Clinton conspiracy. Clinton was really the person who took them on.

And why do I see more people smoking, espcially young, than ever in my entire life?

I really don't like walking the city streets and constantly inhaling cigarette smoke. This is really wrong! I think urban children get much more smoke from this source than is reported.

1. different smoking habits -- anti-smokers need to re-evaluate
"younger" smokers smoking aren't three pack a day smokers like your generation and before were.

There are many "social" smokers out there who never smoke unless they have a drink, or smoke a pack every two weeks.

Certainly smoking in any amount is unhealthy, but this is not your father's smoking habit these days.

Personally, I would rather ban republicans than smoking. Everyone's health would improve, and our urban and rural children wouldn't have to be exposed to that crap every time they turn around.

2. i smoke because of my job
I work at one the Wendy's which goes back and forth between first and second in our company, which has about 170 wendy's across the eastern US. The reason we're so busy, is because we have a huge sporting goods store called Cabelas across the street from us, which literally gets millions of customers a year. 90% of them are crazy fat bearded dirty "moral value loving" bush supporting. conservatives. And they're all hunters of course. Oh yeah, and they're dumb asses. Smoking makes me less annoyed, and I do usually only have like half a pack a week. Two every day I work. So the above poster makes a good point.
