Wolfowitz & His Shifting Rationale

Wolfie just spent his time at the Senate Armed Services Committee Hearing on Operations in Iraq & Afghanistan toay (4/20/04) (Clip 17336 at CSPAN), by attempting to convince the Committee that the justification for invading Iraq can be found simply in the fact the Iraqi people are 'free'.

This is in direct contradiction to how he felt last year around the same time:

"Wolfowitz: -- there have always been three fundamental concerns. One is weapons of mass destruction, the second is support for terrorism, the third is the criminal treatment of the Iraqi people. Actually I guess you could say there's a fourth overriding one which is the connection between the first two. Sorry, hold on again...

...The third one by itself, as I think I said earlier, is a reason to help the Iraqis but it's not a reason to put American kids' lives at risk, certainly not on the scale we did it."

I assume Paul Wolfowitz must have at least one of his 3 children serving in Iraq to "liberate" them. No? Gosh, his kids are the same ages as those that were killed this week-end. Wolfie's own Dad was a Vietnam hardline hawk, worked hard to send others to die there. Wolfie spent that time in college. Had "other priorities". This is the guy the repugs are following right over a cliff.:shrug:
