Lien's wife riled by beating hint - TW
The presidential election campaign has taken a nasty turn with Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Chairman Lien Chan's (??) wife, Lien Fang Yu (???), accusing President Chen Shui-bian (???) of insinuating that her husband had beaten her.

The dispute started Saturday when Chen said in a televised debate that his love for first lady Wu Shu-chen (???) had never changed and that "I've never abused her and never will."

Many interpreted that as a jab at Lien. Rumors have circulated for more than a decade that Lien had abused his wife.
