Zim pro-democracy march broken up
Harare - A coalition of pro-democracy groupings claimed that 34 of its activists were arrested on Wednesday and its chairperson beaten up by police who broke up their demonstration outside parliament.

Police denied making any arrests, but acknowledged breaking up the march.

The National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) chairperson, Lovemore Madhuku was allegedly assaulted and dumped in a suburb on the outskirts of Harare and is currently under treatment at a private hospital.

"Our chairman was beaten up and dumped between Dzivarasekwa and Mufakose townships," information and advocacy officer Ernest Mudzengi said.
