Thu, 20 Sep 2007 13:33:46

Defense Ministry successfully test flies locally-manufactured
'Saeqeh' fighter jet in what is seen as the growing Iranian
military power.

Saeqeh is a new generation of 'Azarakhsh' class which had
already been tested successfully.

The modern fighter has been developed by the Air Force and
Aeronautics Industry.

Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, Army Commander
Ataollah Salehi, Air Force Commander Ahmad Miqani, and a
number of other commanders were present in the flight
ceremony at Mehrabad airport.

1. Looks like a warmed-over BAE Hawk to me. Airplane DUers, what say you?

2. Agreed
or the thing out of Top Gun. I really doubt if it would be much of an issue.

3. An F-5...
With two tails. Single engine, last I looked. Low survivability, small, not a great combat loadout.

This thing will not be shifting any balances of power.

4. Here is the Wiki link
Yup! it's a warmed over F5E...... that would be something about 1960's technology.

6. Hey, thanks. I might have guessed better had I know it was a twin-engine.
Guys I know who flew the F-5E said it was a dandy little dogfighter (stealthy because it was small), but had REALLY short legs. NO way the Iranians can use that for a strike aircraft all the way to Israel and back.
