Bomb scare briefly closes Edgely Road

Philadelphia's bomb squad assisted Bristol Township police on Saturday to examine a suspicious package outside the headquarters of PA Action, a nonprofit political action group on Edgely Road.

The item, a shoebox-sized box wrapped in tape, proved to be nothing harmful — just some material used to keep dogs out of gardens, police said.

Police said they didn't take any chances, partly because PA Action is a political entity that has drawn criticism.

The organization recently sponsored a demonstration calling for troop withdrawal in Iraq.

1. I'm glad it wasn't anything harmful
and I hope the intimidation it represents doesn't keep any activists away.
