Suit says disabled man wrongly deported
By PETER PRENGAMAN
Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES -- The family of a mentally disabled man
claims that the federal and local governments mistakenly
had an American citizen deported and says U.S. officials
should help find him in Mexico.

Relatives sued the Department of Homeland Security and
the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on Monday in
federal court, saying they have been searching for Pedro
Guzman in Tijuana for a month.

It says he was asked about his immigration status in jail
and responded that he was born in California. Sometime
after that, the Sheriff's Department identified him as a
non-citizen, obtained his signature for voluntary removal
from the United States and turned him over to U.S.
Customs and Immigration Enforcement, a divison of the
Homeland Security Department, for deportation.

-snip-

Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed he had
been deported and said the agency had done so correctly.

1. This makes me feel ill.
x(

Did they really think this guy was able to sneak across the border? No, I'll bet they figured that the US was better off without that (insert slur here) even if he was a citizen and they were only too happy to ship him to Mexico.

Now this guy is lost, and who knows if he's even still alive after a month on his own in a strange place, and they don't give a damn what they've done to him.

Heads should roll over this. :nuke:
