Mexican president backtracks after racist comment
President Vicente Fox on Saturday issued a written statement expressing his "enormous respect for minorities" after a comment on the work ethic of Mexicans in the US prompted critical headlines.

In a public appearance on Friday, Fox said, "There's no doubt that the Mexican men and women -- full of dignity, willpower and a capacity for work -- are doing the work that not even blacks want to do in the US."

The Mexican newspaper Milenio cited "Vicente Fox's racist comment" in a small front-page headline on Saturday, while the newspaper Reforma called the president's words "controversial."

1. if i remember correctly the
"blacks" in this country were brought over in chains to work the fields. although there are some instances of mexican workers held against their will they were not sold to be slaves. what an embarresment to mexico. fox should worry about improving his own country so the people of mexico can find jobs in their own country.

2. I wish if VFox would do his best to create jobs for his people....

That would create a huge hold in the USA economy. Tomatoes would probably sell for $6.00 a pound. Mexican mothers and their little children would have no jobs working the great USA garden patch. The housing industry would close down. Who's going to dig the foundations, pour concrete, plant trees, put up roofing and siding in the scotching sun? No job security, no health insurance, no pension, and at pay lower than minimum wage. VFox should have respect and dignity for his people, and stop this modern-day slavery in the USA. This has always been a Win-Win for the USA.

VFox was pointing out the truth about the USA; the poor Black person in the USA is still in chains. He should have framed it so.
