230 Scientists Oppose Wolf Delisting

Monday May 14, 2007 6:46 PM

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - More than 230 scientists have signed a letter opposing
plans to remove wolves in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho from Endangered
Species Act protection.

The scientists said wolves in the three states still face threats because their
numbers remain relatively small and because the wolf populations in the
Yellowstone area, in central Idaho and in northwest Montana don't intermingle.

“This recovery goal is not based on any biologically relevant information such
as demographic or genetic data,” according to the letter sent to U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service wolf recovery coordinator Ed Bangs during a public comment
period that ended Wednesday.

2. I'm Against Delisting Wyldwolf
Even if his candidate, Mrs. Clinton, voted for both 'Patriot' Acts, which I'm sure have placed me on lots of lists.

Just today, I listened to a podcast about a retired Princeton prof. (also Marine Colonel and former Republican) who got put on the no-fly list because he made a speech where he called Bush's actions unconstitutional. Lord knows what lists I'm on!

3. GOOD!
Ed Bangs & US Fish and Wildlife should wait until recovery is really attained, and then, and only then, delist the gray wolf.

I'd like to see a copy of that letter. Haven't found it on Google. Does anyone know what groups supported it?

4. "not based on any biologically relevant information"
Well of course not this administration doesn't operate that way - you know considering the relevant facts and make logical decisions.
