Demand Car Companies Shift Gears - Support Improved Fuel Efficiency

Dear ,

In a time when Fortune 500 companies have called for national action, and when the scientific evidence of global warming's toll mounts each day, the need for a national cap on global warming pollution has never been stronger.

Cars and trucks in the U.S. emit 333 million tons of carbon dioxide each year - more than a fifth of our nation's global warming pollution.

Yet, average fuel efficiency hasn't improved in more than 10 years.

Car companies need to do more.

I call on the leading automakers to join other industry leaders in the United States Action Partnership (USCAP) and support a mandatory, economy-wide national cap on global warming pollution.
