The scientists stopped short of making predictions on where the apparent trend will lead and what its impact will be on the fisheries.
Andrew Pershing of the University of Maine School of Marine Science explained that climate change is seen in temperature and precipitation averages over a period of time.
Using Friday’s snowstorm as an example, he said scientists look at probability in considering how often it snows on March 2. If, over a period of years, snow is less likely, then some conclusions can be drawn.
