* Renewable energy to provide 30% of total energy consumption
* Energy savings on 1,25% annually, to avoid any increase in energy consumption
* 10% of bio fuels in transport by 2020
* Hydrogen cars are freed of all taxes
* Public support for energy R/D/D doubled to $160 million annually

Establishment of a Energy Technological Development and Demonstration program with a budget on $118 million in 2007-2010 focusing on:

1. This is a commercial link. The site promotes their product: fuel cells
And that's all this is. Hydrogen-based transportation is most decidedly NOT green.

3. In this case it is - the electricity to produce H2 would be generated by wind turbines

4. Why not just put that electricity on the grid?
That would make more economic sense. Why would anyone but the fuel cell manufacturers want to revamp the transportation infrastructure?

5. Denmark will generate 40-60% of its electricity with wind power by 2525
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 01:57 PM by jpak
There will be periods where wind power production greatly exceeds demand.

Currently, Denmark sells its excess wind power to Norway. Norway then cuts back hydro power production and "stores" that energy behind dams.

When Danish wind generation declines, they buy back that power from Norway.

As Danish wind power capacity grows from the current 22% to ~50%, that option will not be available.

They plan to produce hydrogen from this "excess power" and use it in domestic/industrial fuel cells, H2 transport and as a substitute for natural gas at Denmark's 535 municipal CHP plants...

Christ Jpak, Even I'm not that pessimistic about the time-scale for renewable energy... :D
