Australian Fossil Fuel Industries - Plan Now For A Drier 21st Century
This was endorsed yesterday by a leading atmospheric scientist, who said the effects of climate change were already upon us, requiring a concerted and immediate effort. Australian Industry Greenhouse Network chief executive John Daley said more confident scientific projections of climate change reinforced the need for governments, industry and the community to take action.

The latest draft of the fourth assessment report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change projects a 3C temperature increase by 2100. As reported in The Weekend Australian, the report, due for release early next year, is expected to reveal greater confidence in predicting temperature rises caused by human actions.

Mr Daley said it was imperative Australia pursue a global response to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. "Adaptation is a key element because some of this warming is already happening," he said.

The AIGN represents resources and heavy manufacturing industries, and includes the coal, aluminium, automotive and plastics industries.
