Global warming could mean jobs for Californians
http://www.centralvalleybusinesstimes.com/stories/001/?ID=2756

State laws requiring California companies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2020 would actually create as many as 17,000 new jobs, says a new University of California, Berkeley, report.

It would boost the annual Gross State Product (GSP) by $60 billion, the report says.

<snip>

If passed before the lawmakers adjourn for the year on Aug. 31, Assembly Bill 32, sponsored by Assemblyman Fabian Nuñez, D-Los Angeles, and Assemblywoman Fran Pavley, D-Agoura Hills, would set caps on greenhouse emissions from industry and automobiles in California.

The study finds that economic gains could be even larger -- $74 billion in annual GSP and 89,000 new jobs by 2020 -- if climate policies are designed to create direct incentives for California companies to invest in new technology.

1. The depth of lies that Bush has told us
runs so deep it's impossible to fathom. Can you imagine where our country would be right now if Gore had won in 2000? Jobs galore, an environmental policy on track, and our respect in the world maintained. I hate Bush and his supporters with every blood fiber in my being.
