29 Dead In Brisbane As Australian Heatwave Continues
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 10:30 AM by hatrack
"TWENTY-NINE people died over a sweltering weekend in Australia’s third-largest city as emergency services today called the freak hot weather in Brisbane a "most significant medical emergency".

As temperatures soared to 41.7 deg C (107F), police were called to 29 sudden deaths between Friday afternoon and last night. The weekend earlier, there were seven such deaths in the city. "

1. News to me, and I live in Australia
Ummm, I don't think this is quite true, as I've heard nothing in the Australian media.

I used to live in Brisbane, and a normal summer would have one or two days where the temperature would reach 40+ degrees. You'd crack open a XXXX (Brisbane's local beer) and jump into the pool for the afternoon. Those were the days.

Cheers,

Jason
