We didn't here a word from the last Democrat administration.
That was a real disappointment.

Even Gore kept quiet. I thought for sure that, after writing "Earth in the Balance", he would have said something public.

"Hemp (marijuana) could replace most oil and energy needs, and could revolutionize the textile industry and stop foreign dependency on oil imports. And it could significantly reduce or eliminate the negative ecological impacts of these polluting industries."--Hugh Downs

1. I sure hope so.
Most of the founders grew hemp. It's an incredibly versatile, hardy plant which meets innumerable manufacturing needs. I don't think they can afford to make this an election topic, but it would certainly be nice in the first year or two of a Kerry admin. to bring this up.

2. They should but they won't
What I would really like to see is a trans-continental railroad using electric trains (kinda like Europe).

3. European transportation system...

Frankly, I was disappointed in Gore's enviornamental stand. Guess, the Congress would not go along with much.

I would like to see them install wind/solar in the Middle East and not nuclear power plants. The smaller villages would do well with this type of power. That area of the world has so much sun...and some parts, say of Afghanistan, have wind. Why not?

European transportation systems...are better, more modern and cleaner than ours.

The trucks are cleaner also. They have computers on board to control the number of hours they drive. It is a great safety feature. Employers must allow truckers rest.

While we ignore our environment and infrastructure, Europe surges ahead. We have huge military budgets and can't afford it.

We are becoming a old Russian type society. Most our money for military and the infrastructure....quality of life is poor. Even our rights and legal system...prisions are starting to look like theirs.

We fought a Cold War to avoid this type of society. We are still paying off that debt from the Reagan build up. Russia went bankrupt from bad decisions and all that military stuff. We almost did too. We are on our way again with the Bush military budgets and wars.

Is this what we voted for in 2000? I think not!!!

4. That would be nice
Maybe generate it with wind, solar and/or biomass hemp.
