Worlds biggest biodiesel plant coming to Hoosier state

The quantity of soybeans in the state and access to transportation was enough to lure Louis Dreyfus Agriculture Industries to Claypool -- 103 miles from the heart of Northwest Indiana -- where the French company will build a $135 million plant capable of producing more than 80 million gallons of biodiesel per year.

With construction set to start within weeks, the Kosciusko County plant would be the ninth biofuel plant being developed in the state.

The plant will use soybeans grown in Indiana and will double the state's current production of biofuel, Gov. Mitch Daniels said in making the announcement at the second annual National Agriculture and Forestry Renewable Energy Summit.

"In a year in which Indiana has gone from almost nowhere to leadership in renewable fuels, today marks the single biggest step," Daniels told reporters after his speech. In 2005, the state's only alternative energy facility was an ethanol plant in St. Joseph County.

2. Kind of sad that it's a French company.
We seem to be missing out on the potential for leveraging The Big Conversion as a way to rebuild American industries.

4. Lots of wind in Indiana, isn't there?
Maybe they could do the "wind farms on crop land" trick. Become a biodiesel and electricity exporter?

6. it's going to be great for the Country! - It won't get any attention from
(television) MSM, even though it's the harbinger of the coming revolution in the energy industry.

Individual states are leading the way in renewable energy, since Bush administration is the servant of the oil, gas and coal industries. Rhetoric (for the campaign season) is all we'll get out of Bush.

NBC, ABC nor CBS (nor PBS, anymore) will not give this story the attention it deserves.

Good Post!

is bushco's one dollar subsidy for
{for fresh biodiesel. 50 cents for reclaimed]
