The McDonnell-Douglas 80 series is an updated version of the DC-9. It's the primary domestic transportation model utilized by American Airlines. AMR began acquiring them in the early '80s which makes many of them 25+ years old. If I correctly recall, there were 260 of them before the acquisition of TWA.
