1. K/R, and for raw data the DOE's EIA and California's Energy Commission pages
Links:

US Department of Energy Energy Information Administration: http://www.eia.gov/

California Energy Commission: http://www.energy.ca.gov/

I'm happy you listed those, and I look forward to seeing what others add to the list.

:thumbsup:

7. One of his most important posts: The Full Solution To Global Warming

The full global warming solution: How the world can stabilize at 350 to 450 ppm
By Joe Romm on Jan 10, 2011 at 4:32 pm

In this post I will lay out ‘the solution’ to global warming.

This post is an update of a 2008 analysis I revised in 2009. A report by the International Energy Agency came to almost exactly the same conclusion as I did, and has relatively similar wedges, so I view that as a vindication of this overall analysis.

<snip>

Joe Romm has the most reality-based analysis around, with a well-earned reputation.

Al Gore:`http://www.huffingtonpost.com/al-gore/the-latest-must-read-gree_b_543449.html">"Joe Romm is one of the most important and influential voices fighting for an end to the climate crisis. His blog, Climate Progress, is a must read."

Paul Krugman: "I trust Joe Romm on climate"

3. Off to the greatest page with this.
As for your question, I am a forum addict and a real doomer: I go to places like theoildrum.com and look for the optimistic posts pointing out possible alternatives, from the people who keep their eyes on peak oil... They seem to have the best grasp on the urgency of the alternatives, and that grounds them in a certain realism that long term futurists lack in my eyes.

Also I admit, I am a fan of the do it yourself survival alternatives scene, even its Ron Paulesque "Patriot" mutations, so I check in with sites like http://www.offthegridnews.com/ and check out their energy category.
