11. I remember asking what happens when the cooling system doesn't function once they get this all
connected. Sounds to me like no one know what to do next. Flat ass don't have a clue because for the last 60 years they've been polishing that turd of nuclear power and telling us they have it all figured out when in fact they've either figured there is no safe use of nuclear power and gave up on trying or they don't give a damn anyway, just want to make a pile of money while the makings good.
6. I think they are able to harness some of the flow from the functioning plants
and divert it to spray the damaged ones. If that is correct, it isn't a solution, but it does perhaps buy time and hopefully limit the scale of the final damage.
methinks the japanese have a big ass problem on their hands and no one knows what to do about it. Kinda reminds me of kindasleezie's line of who could have known. Trouble is many of us who are against using nuclear power knows all about the known un-knowns and the consequences thereof.
There are six plants and only two in the least danger have been fully hooked up and power turned on. Two others have been connected by haven't tried anything (as of the last report I read a few hours ago). The most critical two haven't been connected at all.
IOW... there's no way that they know "Efforts to restart pumps with external power fails" if we're talking about all six plants.
There are a couple DOZEN systems that could benefit from a return of power. We're pretty sure that not ALL of them are going to work. But ANY of them could help the problem.
jpak can watch a little more Fox and tell us the rest of the story. Taking one for the team baby!
18. especially if the coolant pumps aren't designed for it
I'm hoping they've not put their only hope on this working and have been working on replacing pumps, piping etc to get some water on these. If they don't get water in some of the coolant systems soon they/we've not seen the worst of this. Just pumping water on them from the sea isn't going to be enough in the long run, they need to get water in their designed coolant systems.
