1. Why do airline workers get 9 smv from flying over NP?
Are there sources in the plane? Are they less protected from solar radiation?

2. Being above most of the atmosphere reduces their shielding from...
...cosmic rays and the solar wind.

Flying in the polar regions puts them in a place
where more of the high energy charged particles
are "coming down" owing to the Earth's magnetic
field. The same phenomenon causes the polar
auroras

4. You should see the numbers for flying an orbital mission.
No protection from atmosphere whatsoever.
