Biomass Advancing in the Northeast
http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/article/2010/07/biomass-advancing-in-the-northeast

Gestamp Biomass, a division of Gestamp Renewables with worldwide operations, and New Hampshire-based Clean Power Development announced that they plan to bring biomass energy projects to the Northeast region of the U.S.

Under their agreement, Clean Power Development will identify and provide due diligence related to existing operational biomass facilities for possible acquisition by Gestamp Biomass and will manage a portfolio of selected new biomass energy projects to be developed throughout the region. Clean Power Development will also help oversee the acquisition, development, construction and operation of biomass projects.

While multiple projects are under consideration in New Hampshire, the first to move forward under the exclusive agreement will be a 29-megawatt (MW) Combined Heat and Power (CHP) biomass facility in Berlin, NH, which is fully permitted to begin construction, the company said. The plant, which is expected to directly employ 23 people, will be located on a greenfield site away from the town's center.

Overall, it is anticipated that the eight-state region -- Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island plus New York and Pennsylvania -- could collectively provide as much as 180 MW of new biomass energy potential that could be developed by the Gestamp/Clean Power team in the form of high-efficiency CHP projects.
