Something to shut up those hoaxers?
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 10:29 AM by The Hitman
Does anybody have a good site that can be used to refute these "Global warming is a hoax" people?

I know reality is pretty apparent, but I'm looking for a quick, go-to link. I vaguely remember one on here a few months ago.

5. To much uncertainty
At this point with all the shenanigans and finger pointing you are going to have a REALLY hard time finding ANYTHING that be accepted as factual and honest.

Whether or not the "Climategate" "findings" are real, contrived, or exaggerated is irrellevant at this time, as is the actual data it concerns. The reality is there is the appearance that some of the scientists engaged in a cover up, and to this day they are still acting as if they are covering something up. For people to believe you you need to first and foremost try to be and appear to be honest.

The whole mess has set back the factual discussion of the subject DECADES, and all involved should be punished and banned from academia forever.

Just my take on it.

6. Look for isotopic CO2 studies
There's a particular ratio of isotopic carbon in oil and in coal that's far different than the ratio in CO2 produced by living creatures. For the past 50 years, the CO2 ratios in the free atmosphere have been moving toward the fossil fuel ratios and are proportional to the recent observed increase from 300 to ~395 ppm.

Look for links on that. It's a bit technical, but to the average "skeptic", it's utterly irrefutable. They'll sputter, or more likely, they'll shut up and run off to one of the "debunk Algore" sites to see if someone has cobbled together a suitable defense against this new piece of "Socialist" science.

7. Forget global warming
when you argue with wingers. I always win when I change it to pollution. Can't argue with poisons you breath, drink and eat. Bottom line is global warming is caused by these same pollutants. From mercury in fish to carcinogens in food and air, how you going to defend those?

8. I'd say Skeptical Science would fit the bill
I found it several months ago. It has good links to scientific papers so that helps cinch the final argument. In my experience the deniers won't give in, they'll just say more and more ridiculus things. Just provide a voice of reason with logically backed up arguments allows objective observers to discover the truth.

Hope that helps...

10. Ask them
What will it take to convince you that Climate Change is real and that humans are contributing to it?

If you get an answer, show them that evidence. You will more likely just get a childish insult because they don't have an answer and the ignorant tend to lash out when they can't answer a question.
