Setting the Standard: Washington Interstate-5 to Become an Electrified Highway

This a great move by Washington State. California has already got the wheels in motion to make HWY 101 an electric highway, and British Columbia is currently working on setting up charging networks throughout the province.


It appears that Washington state is on the verge of turning a section of its Interstate 5 -- from the Canadian border to Oregon -- into an electric highway with charging stations for Electric Vehicles.

The goal is to place 7 to10 level 3 charging stations along the well-used I-5 corridor, allowing EV drivers to charge a typical battery to 80% in under 30 minutes.

And since the other end of US 101 is up here, maybe they can add that highway to the list. I would guess that I 90, the major West-East corridor in the state would eventually get there too.
