SMA Raises Forecast; Estimates 14 GW Global PV Market in 2010

The Managing Board of inverter manufacturer, SMA Solar expects a stronger worldwide market growth in 2010 of up to 14 GW (previous assumption: 9 to 11 GW). SMA will maintain or even slightly increase its market share in 2010. SMA anticipates moderate price pressure for solar inverters.

Furthermore, SMA assumes that the material supply in the semiconductor field and consequently the delivery time for SMA inverters will gradually improve in the second half of the year.

Against this backdrop and assuming continued market development, SMA's Managing Board increases its forecast for 2010 as a whole.

The Managing Board expects sales to increase up to EUR 1.5 to 1.8 billion (previous forecast: EUR 1.1 to 1.3 billion). SMA achieved sales of over EUR 800 million in the first six months 2010 and sold more than 3.1 GW inverter output.
