In a few weeks I'll be on my yearly vacation to Delaware, where I may eat no seafood.

At bare minimum, I'll have to ask where their fish came from, and decide if I should believe them, and whether I know enough about what's been done to the food chain to make a judgement about what's safe (enough) to eat.

Good times!
:woohoo:

3. That would be nice. How do you figure?
For one thing, I'd like to assume that a Delaware restaurant (and by that I do not mean, say, the local McDonald's) is using local seafood. But in reality I presume that's true in some cases, but maybe not others.

But I think it's more complicated than that too. If I order some tuna, was that tuna spawning a few weeks ago in the GOM? I, for one, do not know. Maybe it's not a big deal, but I'm a landlubber.

6. The nearest major fish market is Philadelphia
My understanding is that most of the restaurants around here do their bulk purchasing there. There is no substantial fishing fleet operating out of Delaware ports, although a few small scale fishers do provide a "catch of the day" type supplement for some restaurants. The best connected in that category is "Big Fish Grill".

Enjoy your stay.

7. Big Fish Grill is a yearly pilgrimage for us :-)
Along with a pilgrimage (or several) to the Dogfish head brew pub.

5. It has crossed my mind to eat only live animals...
But yes there are a variety of benefits to reducing or eliminating meat. My carnivorous habits die hard.

10. Love Rehoboth.
I go there every other summer. This is our off year. I'm looking forward to next year...I just hope the water is still oil free. :(
