The atmosphere that supports life
Approximately 6 miles deep.

If the earth was a basketball and you wrapped it in a sheet of cellophane then that cellophane would represent the thin layer we count on for survival.

Some perspective to give the doubters of man-made greenhouse affect.

Scares hell outta me every time I see a pic of the Earth from space that shows just how little separates us from the rest of the Universe. And, man, is that universe cold!

Most people don't realize that they live closer to outer space than they do the next nearest city.
