3,500 km wildlife corridor to span Australia from Port Augusta to Arnhem Land
Edited on Sat Feb-20-10 07:09 AM by depakid
A new wildlife corridor has been announced to protect plants and animals from the coast of South Australia to the top of the Northern Territory. The Trans-Australia Eco Link will extend 3,500 kilometres from Port Augusta to Arnhem Land and will be set up by 2012.

It will provide a corridor for native animals to move to different areas when threatened by climate change, fire or drought.

The South Australian and Northern Territory governnments will each contribute $1.8 million to buy land and provide incentives for landowners to maintain native habitats.
