Leahy: Mistrust of Entergy, NRC is ‘palpable'
By BOB AUDETTE

BRATTLEBORO -- Many Vermonters and the state's congressional delegation simply don't trust Entergy to do the right thing when it comes to Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant in Vernon.

That was the gist of a meeting between Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Gregory Jaczko and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., Sen. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt.

"There is enormous anxiety (in Vermont) about the safety of Vermont Yankee and about the credibility of Entergy," said Sanders, during a press conference following the meeting. "Time and time again there has been a belief that Entergy has not been straight and honest with the people of the state of Vermont."

It's not just Entergy that Vermonters don't trust, he said, but also the NRC.

1. Of course, everyone here TRUSTS implicitly the gas frackers though.
Unlike the gas companies who OWN the anti-nuke position outright - who destroyed Maine Yankee with paranoia and stupidity and replaced it with GAS - everybody trusts gas, right?

Why? Because they couldn't care less about risks that matter.

The numbers are clear enough, although there is NOT ONE anti-nuke who can understand numbers:

Let's be clear on something. When Maine Yankee was shut by ignorance, people died as a result, since climate change kills.

Zero people in Maine or in Vermont or in any other state have been killed by commercial nuclear power in this country in 50 years of operation.

If the gas industry were required to meet nuclear standards for safety, if the wind industry were required to meet nuclear standards for safety, if the toxic solar semiconductor industry were required to meet nuclear standards for safety, they would all collapse within ten minutes.

The NRC, and its predecessor the AEC presided over a fifty year history in which the number of public deaths associated with operations of commercial nuclear power has been zero.

That's an extraordinary record, but not one that the anti-nukes know how to measure.

We can contrast this with the failed solar industry, that can't after 50 years of mindless blather, can't produce the energy of two Vermont Yankees.

How come we don't have bourgeois consumer anti-nukes here scrutinizing every risk associated with the solar fantasy?

Probably because the dead mostly aren't white.

2. Just because the nuke industry doesn't admit to the deaths does not make it so
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Its just a black or white world to you isn't it. If you oppose nuclear power you are for coal and it doesn't matter anyway cause if wind or solar would work we'd already have them and we don't so that proves they won't work. Your convoluted thinking reminds me of rush limbonutt.
