Really cool video. The eagles around here should start coming in for the hooligan run.

it's because she's sitting on them.

7. Thanks! That's something none of us could ever see if it weren't
for the cameras! I also checked out the other cameras. There's another nest that looked like it contained 2 eggs. They're supposed to hatch Apr. 29th. While I was watching another eagle landed in the nest. It looked like that one was tidying up the edge of the nest. Then the one who had been sitting on the eggs got up and flew away and the new arrival settled down on the eggs. I wonder if they were male & female? Surely 2 females wouldn't share a nest????

Thanks again. I love watching live shots of wile animals like that.

We know who Mom's favorite is, don't we. That little guy in the back may not make it. This is fascinating. I've been watching since posted.

14. I've been watching off and on since last night and have caught 3-4 feedings.
One of the chicks is very aggressive and gets fed the most. The second chick gets a little piece now and then. The third chick isn't be fed at all as far as I can tell, and appears to be smaller than the other two. I guess that's how it goes in the wild.

20. the runt chick
is a real fighter. yesterday she struggled to get to the others to get food. then the poor thing passed right out on supper, which I think was some

kind of waterfowl. it was black and actually quite large. the female has to clean it and pulled quite a few feathers off before feeding the chicks.

they are growing so fast. really something!

21. I'm so afraid the runt is going to get "disappeared",
Yea.. I noticed that she always seems to feed them other birds and, yes, I've watched her pick all the feathers off first.

I get a kick out of watching the chicks poop. They stick their fannies up in the air and "squirt" their poop up in the air and nearly out of the nest.

I need to get a life.

26. Runt is about half the size of the other two... but hanging in there. They're not white
anymore. They're all gray and fluffy and you can see a lot of white on the big guy's head. They're getting away from Mom more and more and basking (sleeping) in the sun. I've seen the biggest fella flexing his muscles (wings) a few times.

She just hollered for the old man to get his fanny home. If he shows up in the next few minutes, fine. If not, she may leave the chicks unsupervised for 10-15 minutes while she goes for groceries.

Sleep, eat, poop. That's all they did for a week. They're starting to get out and explore a tiney little bit.

I need to get a life.

36. They still can't "walk". They try but tire quickly. This must be nature's way of
keeping them safely in the nest. They walk like E.T.
They're playing more and interacting with each other. I'm watching the runt now picking up twigs and straw with his beak and tossing them around.

the runt is still fuzzy gray. They're still being fed (mostly) by parents but I've watched them picking at carcasses too.

38. They all have their dark feathers now. They're all walking straight up on their feet (instead
of their elbows) and flexing their wings occasionally. Mom/Pop drop off fish/mice/whatever and let them feed themselves for the most part, tho they help occasionally. Actually, I don't much of the parents at all. I'm looking for signs of white feathers on their heads, but none so far.

41. I'm pretty sure that's correct.
I was lucky enough to see quite a few bald eagles when I was stationed in Alaska. They're pretty impressive critters, with or without the white head.

Shortly before I was transferred, I tossed out a frozen caribou roast. Within a minute there was a juvenile eagle tearing it apart. A frozen roast. I'd need a small ax to do what that 10 pound (?) bird was doing with it's beak. A few minutes later, an adult eagle chased the youngster away and demolished the roast. Amazing sight.

Feathers not developed enough to get much lift, but was looking pretty strong. Wonder how long before it's 'abandon nest!' time?

43. I'm watching now. The big chick (chick?) is really antsy. The other two are asleep and he's pacing
back and forth and wandering around and flapping the hell out of his wings. I'd say any day (or minute) now.

45. Still there. Over the last few days, the big guy has been flexing his wings like crazy and
bouncing/hopping/gliding all over the nest. It's hysterical to watch. There's a branch a foot or two from the nest where Mom occasionally sits and watches the children. Right now, the big guy is standing on that branch. Any day now, folks.
