FLINT, Michigan -- The alternative energy plant that will convert human waste into biogas -- and has raised hopes that it will help the city's faltering economy -- could be operating this year.
"I would say that it would be at some level running in late '09 or early 2010," said Suzanne Kayser, the city of Flint's economic development director.
But it could be sooner, said Ron Moffett, sector manager for bioenergy for the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
The project is a partnership between the city, state, Kettering University and Swedish Biogas International.
