Food costs unlikely to fall any time soon
http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=226056&ac=PHnws

Tom and Leanne Bond are waiting to see how long it will take for their weekly grocery bill to go down now that gasoline prices are dropping.

Food prices exploded earlier this year because transportation and production costs – pushed by fuel prices – more than doubled.

During the summer, gasoline was more than $4 a gallon, now it's well under $2.

The Bonds and other families say they are experiencing relief at the gas pump but no similar relief at the grocer.

1. It should reduce a bit.. transport costs will decrease, but the cost of the
original food produced during high gas prices won't cut it down as much. Also, people are playing with commodities on the stock market.. now that food is the only thing people have to buy. Its disgusting.

2. Another golden opportunity to gouge the consumer.
I've been wondering the same thing since gas prices started their slide.

I've stopped patronizing my former grocery chain store (Stop & Shop) because they've kept their prices at peak level. I go out of my way to do business with the few that aren't taking advantage of the situation.

3. Food prices fall?
Don't we still have some of the cheapest food prices anywhere in the developed world?
