White possum said to be first victim of global warming

SCIENTISTS say a white possum native to Queensland's Daintree forest has become the first mammal to become extinct due to man-made global warming.

The white lemuroid possum, a rare creature found only above 1000m in the mountain forests of far north Queensland, has not been seen for three years.

Experts fear climate change is to blame for the disappearance of the highly vulnerable species thanks to a temperature rise of up to 0.8C.

Researchers will mount a last-ditch expedition early next year deep into the untouched "cloud forests" of the Carbine range near Mt Lewis, three hours north of Cairns, in search of the tiny tree-dweller, dubbed the "Dodo of the Daintree".

The cute white possum (Hemibelideus lemuroids) has not been sighted in any night time spotlighting expedition since 2005.

The anti-MMGW idiots don't listen to science. As far as they're concerned, they saw a program on the telly or heard from a friend in the pub that explained the whole thing: The earth isn't warming and if it is, it's certainly not man-made and if it is man-made, it's certainly not something they can do anything about. They don't care or want to know anything else.

Makes me wish we'd pumped a shitload of money into space research so we could gather up two of everything and get the hell away from these nutbags.

6. Let me present my argument....first of all they ain't white...

and Queensland? where the hell is Queensland, and if they have a Queen, let her fix it! thirdly, if man made it, it is guaranteed to break down at some point. and fourthly and lastly...they are possums after all, maybe they are just playing possum?

well I don't really know y'all but at least you'll talk about this. Us wiping out other species horrifies me and I don't know anyone in real life who cares much about it.
And look at the comments under the article.. from what I've seen I have to assume almost no one in the world cares what we do to it.

I just read The Last Great Auk, about a bird we killed off when we first started taking over. It's a kids book but it's good.
Every species should get a novel once they're wiped out by progress.
