Shortage leads to impurity in gas (low tanks)
FLETCHER – During the recent gas shortage, with his wife’s car sitting near empty in their driveway, Jose Ortiz fetched five gallons from a local convenience store.

Unfortunately, that had to be followed by a tow to the repair shop to fix damage caused by contaminated fuel.

A sample of the gas Ortiz poured into the Honda was collected by a state regulatory agency. “The gas that was inside my vehicle looked like root beer in color,” he said.

While such contamination doesn’t appear to be widespread, AAA Carolinas says it’s more likely when fuel tanks run low.

1. Maybe, it is about time to look into buying a horse...
and buggy. The fuel costs too much AND it'll mess up the vehicle. It's bad for the planet anyhow. Plus, talking to a horse might make it run better. Talking to a car never works. We are so screwed if we can't afford alternative energy yet.

2. Personally, I'm getting really tempted to run away and join the Amish.

3. I thought about them too.
I remember when I visited the area. Their horse drawn carriages looked downright economical and environmentally friendly. Plus, they were allowed to drive them on the actual roads. We may end up like the wild, wild, west yet if all of these problems with the economy and finding renewable energy keeps up.

4. Your horse would likely be worse for global warming than a car
I can find specific data for horses, but the world's livestock contribute twice as much global warming gases to the atmosphere as all transportation combined.
