Hawaiian plant is latest to convert from coal to biomass
http://www.energyefficiencynews.com/power-generation/i/1217/

In a growing trend across the US, a coal-fired power station in Pepeekeo on Haiwaii’s Big Island is being retrofitted to use locally grown sustainable biomass for power generation.

The H? Honua 24 MW clean energy project, which is funded and operated by MMA Renewable Ventures, will use residual wood from the local timber industry and green waste that would otherwise go to landfill to generate sufficient electricity to power around 18,000 homes - around 10% of Big Island’s total energy needs.
