Hundreds rally to help save the Murray
Several hundred people have rallied in Adelaide, calling for more water to be released down the River Murray to save the ailing system, especially the lower lakes.

Farmers, irrigators and concerned citizens from river communities gathered on the steps of parliament house urging action before October.

Scientists suggest if more water is not released to flow down the river by then, irreparable damage will have occurred.

South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said it was crunch time for the Murray.
