3. That wouldn't make sense
The question was what form of power is better, nuclear or coal. A response of 'Other' doesn't make sense.

5. It's the logical fallacy of the false dilemma
Both are bad in their present states.

7. Yes, both are bad.
The question is, which is worse?

9. Which is worse
Would you rather get your head cut off or be choked to death?

Get it yet?

12. The old Three Stooges line.
Would you prefer to be burned at the stake or taken to the guillotine?

Curley: I'd rather be burned. A hot steak is always better than a cold chop. (obviously when it's said, it funnier than reading it in print.)

13. I would prefer to have my head cut off
Naturally, I don't want either, but given a choice between those two I'd prefer to have my head cut off.

See how easy it is to answer a question?

The question is what form of power is better, coal or nuclear. The question is NOT what form of power do you think is best.

10. It's just a question
Keep in mind I'm not asking you what your favorite form of power is. I'm not asking you what type of plant you would like in your backyard. All I'm asking it for you to tell me which form of power is worse, nuclear or coal. Why are you so reluctant to answer the question?

Think of it this way. Let's say you get captured by terrorists and they ask you "How do you want to die, with a gunshot to the head or in a pit of poisonious snakes where you die painfully and slowly"? Of course you don't want to die either way, but would you really not offer an opinion?

15. Actually there is a way to answer this seemingly pointless false dichotomy
Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 12:52 PM by HamdenRice
for those of us who think they are equally bad. If you believe they are equally bad, then the answer actually is "No" -- that is, nuclear is not preferable to coal because they are equally bad.

If you had said, which do you prefer, or which is better, nuclear of coal, there could not be an answer.
